HAPPY HALLO-WEENIE!

So, full disclosure.
Someone I know has Dachshunds.
Several.
She used to breed them but no longer.
She just has a little "retirement home" for her remaining weenies.

After I created my "Playing in the Leaves"  illustration, I posted it on several of my social media sites, one being my Facebook Art Page.
This woman saw it and immediately said she wanted it.
So I said I'd put it aside for her AND I told her that I was going to be doing one called
HAPPY HALLO-WEENIE
Her reply was "mine, mine, mine!"
I LOL'd her back.
Funny that she wanted it before it was even created!
I finished it yesterday and posted it on my FB page and her reply was
"Love, love, love it"
LOL!
Yep, totally had her in mind when I thought it up.
Hmm, besides getting busy on my calendars and Xmas cards,
I'm gonna have to think up some Christmas- weenies!

ONE DOWN and a FEW to go....

Well, I finished ONE commissioned painting during my time off.

I did it in my illustrated collage style.
I used acrylics, papers and Inktense pencils.
My friend wanted it to be of her longhair Dachshund who is constantly digging holes.
I wrapped the cut paper around the sides so that there is no need for a frame.

Then I sealed it in a matte finish.
I hope she likes it! She will be getting it Thursday.

I've got a few other works in progress and I made a huge dent in my gardening chores so that gave me some satisfaction.

In other news, I'm back at work.
On the Plus side,  I'm doing all the flower containers for the clinic.
(Wahoo! Anything to be outside!)
On the Minus side is that 3 of the rescued abused dogs are now here at the clinic
and it hurts my heart to look at them.
But on the Plus, they are getting better and the fourth dog is already at a rescue!
So... Enough about that.
Sigh.

BED STEALER

Aaaaaaaaah!
A day off.
and here I am, wasting it on the the laptop
and taking photos with my phone.
Chatting on Facebook
and Instagram.
I need to get off and be productive.
House needs to be tidied,
Laundry caught up and
Art to be created.
I'll leave you with a Sunday photo.

Hattie, my piebald Dachshund stealing Blue's "bed"
whenever he gets up.
I think she likes the warmth he leaves behind.

BUTTON CAT, DOXIE and THERAPIST

I did three more paintings.
Each one is done with Inktense pencils on paper
then collaged onto an acrylic painted small canvas
measuring 4" by 4" by 1 1/2" deep.
They can be hung or placed to sit upright on a surface.
The cat has a floral scrap paper blouse with real little buttons.
I'm liking using different paper and maybe random items, like the buttons.

Then I did another Dachshund because I know a lot of Dachshund owners! LOL!

and lastly, I wanted to use the Therapist quote because it's true for me.

But next up I need to work on some small commissioned paintings.
I had been asked to do a painting of a friends five dogs, all on one tiny canvas
in a more realistic style.
I wasn't given a deadline and I really was dragging my feet.
I sketched out some things but never was happy.
Recently I met up with this friend and she asked about them and I told her that I just couldn't seem to get them all in the proper scale but....
that I'd do it, eventually.
She laughed and said why didn't I just do them individually and in whatever style and whatever color I like.
Suddenly I was full of ideas!
I'm pretty sure I know how I will be creating them.
The only problem now is....time.
Sigh.

I still have not been contacted by the Art/Antique place
and truly, I don't even care now.
It got me painting again and that's what I needed!
I'm still working on setting up a shop but I've opened a business Facebook page!
https://www.facebook.com/cynthiamyersart
Yep, slowly but surely.

BODY HEAT

I've been really looking forward to Fall.
I love the Autumn colors
and the cooler temperatures.
Yesterday when I woke up it was 58 degrees in the house
and 39 outside!
I refused to turn on the heat.
I grew up with a Dad who would say -
"Put another sweater on if you're cold!"
So we toughed it out because temps are supposed to climb a little bit.
In the meantime, the critters were using body heat to stay comfy.
Hattie is in the back, Raini in the middle and Louie snoozing in the front.

Then Ghost crawled in...

Pretty soon Mimsy walked up,
"Is there room for me?"
"NO!" they all grumbled.
"Sure there is!" exclaimed Mimsy

She climbed in - "I'll just sort of circle in right over here..."

"Oh Lord! This is ridiculous! I'm outta here!" said Ghost

Mimsy smirked with satisfaction as Hattie noticed the camera and posed.

Louie woke up "I can't breathe! Someone's on top of me,!"

Raini sat up, saw Nora and said "OH NO!"
"I'm leaving before SHE tries to get in here!"

And then I said "Want to go outside?"
and everyone except the cats did.

I FOUGHT THE LAWN AND THE LAWN WON.

Summer is of course a very busy time at my job.
My Boarding Area is packed but that's good.
Busy + Waiting List = Job Security.

But it does leave me exhausted and no energy to get stuff at home done.
I've shared photos before of my yard and right afterward I got a lot of it mowed down
but I didn't tackle the area of the hill.
Too Hot + Too Tired = No doing it.
And then it's rained several times.
A couple of days ago I walked down to the top of the hill again.
I just stood there looking at it.
I'm not even upset.
OK yeah, I WAS, but no, not any longer.
Nope, I'm NOT going to let it drive me crazy.
But..these weeds are TALL..
I mean like 4 feet.
This one is even taller than that.

So...I'm done.
My niece Lily is coming over tomorrow and we are going to clear just the top part.
Then we are putting up a fence.
Yeah, that's my usual M.O.
If I can't deal with something, then block it out and try to forget it.
I do have BIG plans for the top area now though.

PLAN C -
I'm fencing it in and lining it with flowers and making it into a big outside room.
Painted picnic table, birdbaths, fairy garden, fire-pit area...yep, things like that.
PLAN D -
Or buying a big discounted pool and surrounding it with pea gravel.
PLAN F -
Or maybe a horse trough/stock tank for a MODERN effect.

Maybe not.
But...I DONE with that damn hill.

What I made last year for Christmas Gifts. (Dog Paintings)

I just realized that I never shared the gifts that I made this last year for Xmas!
I guess the new snowfall made me think of Christmas....
and that I kinda only like snow for Christmas.
Anyway, this is what I made for the two girls that work for me in boarding.
Taylor adores her little Elvis -

So I did a painting of him -

and Pam's furry family has suffered a couple of losses in the last couple of years
and now she is just left with just her two dogs,
Rain and Princess -

and finally Lily, my niece has a new puppy
a Dachshund/Shih-Tzu mix....or sometimes called a mutt.
I was very upset with Lily because she BOUGHT him from a Pet Store.
Most Pet Stores get puppies from Puppy Mills
and with so many dogs needing homes.....
OK, anyway. I can't hold it against her little guy.
His name is Lucius Fox
(after the Morgan Freeman character from the Batman movies. Lily is addicted to all things Batman)
So here's her pic of her puppy in the snow.

And the painting I did of him.

For some reason, I was unable to get a really good pic of it and I couldn't scan it
because it's covered in glitter, to look like sparkling snow.

So, that's what I MADE for Christmas.
The rest of my gifts I bought throughout the year.
I got my sister some really cool Smith and Hawkins garden things
when they were marked down after summer.
I try to remember to search all year so I can get good gifts at good prices.
But usually, I prefer to make my gifts, if possible.

THE MOUSE SLAYERS

I've been busy vacuuming, scrubbing, cleaning and still pitching stuff
and hopefully will get the kitchen and living room painted this weekend too.
Yesterday as I cleaned in the living room there was suddenly a major commotion in the kitchen.

A mouse was running around the room and the dogs were going crazy!
I ran in the opposite direction and started screaming and then my two attack dogs cornered it.

I'm not sure which one did it but they got it.
Ruby trotted away looking victorious

and Hattie kept nudging it and picking it up and dropping it.
She looked at me so guilty.
I don't think she meant to kill it. She probably thought it was a game.

Ruby? I'm not too sure, she's looking pretty content.

and Blue? he slept through the whole thing.

WIENER DOG LOVE

Nita said that if I ever got a Dachshund,
I would start wanting everything with a wiener dog on it.
I was sure she was wrong.
Yes, I am drawn to Great Dane stuff because of Blue
and sometimes Chihuahua stuff because of Twinkle
and of course Papillon stuff because of my little Rosie.
But I have Shih-tzu's and Poodles too.
and Mixed Breeds, I love a good ole Heinz 57 dog.
I'm always drawn towards Goldens because of the perfect dog that I had years ago.
So...now I have to add Wienie Dog stuff to my list of wants
because of Hattie.

Oops! Nita emailed me that she did NOT say that I would want THINGS with Dachshunds on them after I got one.
She said that she told me that after I got a Weenie, I'd want more Weenies!!!
Now that's even scarier! LOL!
