I'M INSANE

Yep, I've done it again.
Over and over again.
Every year.
I'm so mad at myself.
All that time, energy and money spent on my yard.
And it's gotten out of control.
Weeds everywhere and I am sick sick SICK of it!
I spent the my whole day off weeding and hating my yard.
I'm digging up the boulevard.
Moving the plants to another flowerbed or into pots.
I have plenty of potting soil.
I'm using the soil from my raised garden.
The only thing that was growing in there was the lettuce.
I cut some for a salad
and it was BITTER!

Who knew that lettuce could be bitter?!
I Googled it and apparently too much heat and not harvesting it early enough makes for bitter lettuce.
I'm so done.
I have SO MANY other things that I need to be doing other than pulling weeds.
I'm tempted to get my weed-whacker out and hack everything down
and then drown it all in weed killer.
Jeez, what is my problem?
So...here's my NEW inspiration photo.
This style would flow with the look of my house.

AARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!      I could just kick myself.

I do love your inspiration picture! I have read that lettuce must be grown when it's cool to make it sweet....carrots too.

You're not the only one. I've ignored mine and now I think I need to dig out the good stuff and start from scratch.

I was going to say I think it's heat that makes lettuce bitter.

I know you're mad, but I can't help but laugh because yesterday I went outside, came back in and said to my DH, "Maryland won." lol! I swear, vines and weeds and more weeds! I love your picture...much prettier than my vision of pouring concrete everywhere. :))

Yes lettuce can become very bitter, ve rarely grow it here during summer but during spring and autumn. Most kinds of lettuce get bitter when it's hot and it has been very hot where You live.

I like weeding but my perennilas grow so tight together that weeds rarely get a chance to get a grip of the flower bed. Grass however manages it :-)

Have a great day and don't look at those weeds :-)

Christer.

Call me crazy, especially living in Vermont where grass grows everywhere and even dilapidated houses have beautifully mowed lawns (everyone is a farmer here), but I love hard scape. Gravel driveways, pea stone walkways, blues tone paths and terraces...boulder retaining walls, etc. I try to keep outdoor life as user friendly and low maintenance as possible and use the vegetation (vegetables included) as the icing on the cake!

I go through this too. I feel like crying sometimes, the weeds get so far ahead. Just cut them down and don't worry about pulling them out for now. I hope you won't use weed killer, your pets might eat some weeds or the bees and butterflies might become sick from it. Cut them down before they go to seed and don't beat yourself up over it. You are only human. Life is too short to worry about weeds. Go for a walk instead.
