YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS!

(I've tried to post this last night but something is going on with Blogger. It keeps changing the font, the size of my text and breaking in the middle of words. I just wanted you to know why this text is looking a bit odd and how it's not a result of me whacked myself in the head with the dolly...)
But talk about POSITIVE BELIEVING...
(I have other results of positive thinking to tell you about)
but I must tell you what JUST happened.
The second girl came in for the job interview.
She was so UP and cheerful.
I showed her the cat room and introduced our clinic cats.
She made over all the cats and asked if she could pick up "Bird".
He's the 18 yr old cat that follows me everywhere and he's the one I worried about, back when I took a few days off.
(He's in Renal Failure and he's a little old man of a cat.)
The girl took a moment with each cat and while holding Bird told me
"This might sound weird but I'm always drawn to the old or disabled".
I just smiled as she told me about her blind cat and her old dog on heart meds
and how she adopted them because they needed her to.
She said "Who else would have adopted a blind cat or an old dog?"
I don't even know her but I said, "Just you!.....or me".
We walked around then and I told her about the job.
She's already doing some kennel work at the job that she currently has so she knows what's basically involved and she stated that she actually enjoys cleaning.
This will be a part time job for her and she's hoping for evenings especially Sundays.
(Sunday night is the shift I had trouble getting coverage for.)
We walked out to the play area as she told me about how she loves all of
her dogs but that she has one who is her soulmate.
She said that she usually doesn't tell people that kind of thing because they think she's crazy.
We talked about the job but we also talked about our dogs and how we got them.
Then I asked if there are any dog breeds that she was uncomfortable handling and
she said No.
She loved all breeds... But she probably loves poodles most.
I looked at her and asked if someone told her to say that and I laughed.
Then I told her I have three!

She said she didn't have a big family (except for her pets of course) and her family didn't live close so she would be willing to work every holiday!
And she added that she drove a 4 wheel drive so she could always make it to work.
I told her she was hired.

Then we walked up front and I went to introduce her to Doc.
He was surprised and laughed because he knew her.
He gives her dogs chiropractic adjustments and he said
"Hey! You will get a discount! You'll save a lot of money!"
I could tell he was happy to hear she was the new kennel girl.
Isn't this freaky weird?
Or not really.... Right!

OK, one more thing that happened.
I was driving home the other night and it was early evening.
I slowed down as I came up the the wooded area behind the church parking lot.
It's just a habit because there used to be deer that would come out of the woods in that area.
But no deer.
There were hardly any cars as I drove down my street and I glanced around at the front yards.
No deer.
Last year there were always deer sightings.
I wondered where they were and what happened to the one that stopped in my yard a few times.
I felt almost ... Sad? Wistful?

Then in the middle of the night, well almost morning, I woke up because Blue was up.
He was looking out the bedroom window and down to the street.
He didn't bark but rather made this low rumble in his throat.
I got up quickly and peered out.
Walking down the middle of the street was a deer!
Blue looked at me and walked away and laid down.
I got back in bed and just felt amazed at the coincidence.
???
Then today after I got home from work, I let my dogs out on the patio and
then I went to water my plants.
When I finished I walked towards my backyard and looked down the hill.
It's so overgrown, completely taken over by weeds and I don't care.
I'm letting it be.
Letting the wildlife have it.
I had my phone in my pocket and I quickly snapped a photo.

Do you see it?
I walked closer...
Yep, Life is Good.

The first girl you interviewed was there to teach you not to settle. This most recent one was the proof. Congratulations on making a good match!

Cynthia,

Oh, my goodness!! That is some mighty strong positive believing you've been doing. LOL!

Those pictures of the deer are amazing. What gorgeous animals. That one seems to have gotten so close, it's like she (or he?) knows that it's important to let you see her. It's almost like she was "sent" to show you that you should never give up hope. I just love those moments when stuff like that happens to me.

I do some of the hiring at work too and I totally understand what you've been going through trying to find someone who will fit in and do a good job. I like to think that I can tell when people are sincere and truly enjoy the type of work that we do but I have to admit that for me a lot of times it's just a crapshoot. I always trust my very first instincts though because I think your gut is usually right when it comes to judging people's motivations.

I love the way you described Bird the elderly cat. We have a couple of those at the shelter where I volunteer and those are the ones I pay more attention to whenever I'm there. When I adopt animals, I never go for the kittens or puppies, I tend to gravitate towards the older ones too because I do think that they need us more. I always want to make sure their golden years are the best they can be. I lost one of my dogs to cancer right before the holidays and a couple of months ago I adopted a 13 year old dog. I just adore him. He is nothing like the dog that I lost but he has sure made my whole life better in the short time I've had him.

I sure hope your cold (or whatever it was) is totally gone now and that you are feeling a lot better. : )

Connie,
You are so right.
There was a reason for this whole process.
I think that if I start concentrating more on giving everyday things more thought I will find a reason for why most things occur as they do.
:)
Thank you!

Grace,
I think the same about the deer.
She was around last year a lot and then she was gone for weeks and I found myself depressed. Then the next night I was working in the yard and I turned and there she was, looking at me and then she left.
I also think it odd (and then again I don't) that the only dog that woke up and saw her coming down the street was my deaf dog, and also that once I saw her, he looked at me and went and laid back down.
You are right about hiring someone being mostly a crap shoot. In fact someone who is now one of my best friends, came in to be hired at the Humane Society when I used to work there and I didn't think we should. I said that I didn't like how she wouldn't smile. But they hired her anyway and now I know that she's just isn't a people person but would do anything for an animal.
And, about elderly animals? I very rarely feel the urge to adopt a kitten or puppy.
But when an ancient animal comes in to the clinic and needs a home, boy they just reach out and grab my heart.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you adopted a 13 yr old dog! You are truly an angel.
Just the fact that you are more concerned about his final days than you are about protecting your heart, tells me how special you are.
I'm so sorry to read about your loss. I lost my Golden Maddie to cancer too.
At the time I didn't realize what it was but now I've figured it out.
Just by Doc's actions back then and his words, now that I know him, I understand why he didn't use that word because it was too late to do anything...oh, god now I'm tearing up!
STILL can not talk about that.
But truly, my deepest sympathies.
XOXOXO

Christer,
I know! I'm so happy that things are turning around!
:D :D :D
I haven't gone all the way to the bottom of the yard in a long while...
(not since I saw that snake!) but the deer travels across the street and there are heavily wooded ravines over there just 2 blocks away. So I'm thinking her babies would be there. Later when she did cross the street (and I live on a main-thoroughfare so I really worry about her crossing) but she went across and then crossed the avenue where the neighbor was outside with his Golden who he never has to leash. Well, the deer walked up into his yard and I saw the guy hold onto his dogs collar and start to walk to his back door. But the deer walked faster and stopped in front of that door, blocking them. So the neighbor man turned with his dog and walked to his backyard and the deer followed him! I stood there watering flowers (and watching) and after many many minutes the man came around with his dog! LOL! I'm wondering if he had to go in circles back there! Ha ha ha! Too funny but then deer here have ticks so there's that to worry about. Lyme disease.
But this has definitely got me to decide to just leave the bottom of my yard alone!

It sounds like the new girl was heaven sent. Could she be any more perfect?? Let's hope this is the beginning of a long and satisfying relationship.

Deer are always hanging around my yard. The orevious owners planted TONS of hostas. Not the best idea when there are deer all over :/.

Cindi Myers said...

Doreen,
LOL! I know! She kinda appears to be a mini-me!
I'm hoping anyway! I much prefer to have someone that is "overly concerned" than a typical "good enough" personality.

Hostas! I have huge hostas lining part of my driveway and at the side of the house. I haven't noticed too much damage to them yet although I had to wrap one of my little plum trees with chicken wire last year to save it from being munched to death.
Last night Ping was barking at the window and I peered down to see the deer grazing in my neighbors vegetable garden!
I doubt if he's going to be happy!

so happy this gal applied for the job and that she is perfect! wonderful synchronicity. And the deer? What a delight to see your "friend" again! I'm watching for the fawns to start making their appearance here. Your's probably has her fawn waiting in the deeper woods for her.

Some might say that the universe was testing you with the first girl, but I like to think it was just having fun. You certainly manifested the perfect person for the job!

Tammy,
I know! I was almost high-fiving people at work, I was so happy.
I get a little negative worry thought in my head about it being too good to be true and then I PUSH that thought out and just focus on how great it is that everything is falling into place and believe that it will continue to do so.

I have those moments with Blue. Even something as simple as him curling his lip at Ping and Evie because they are tumbling too close to him (HE thinks) and he will look at me and I shake my head no and he stops. And then they roll towards him and he curls his lip and looks at me and I make a big frown and he stops. I swear he knows what I'm thinking about, all the time.

Yes, the bottom of my yard and the hill has returned to a natural state and I'm ok with that. Today baby bunnies were running across the path and there's always birds BUT when I moved the wheelbarrow a little SNAKE wiggled into an overturned pail. I about had a heart attack! I'm terrified of snakes. But I had to work on putting my fence up in that spot so I got a stick and push the pail upright and then I texted both Lily and my sister to come over and get the snake but they wouldn't. So... I used the stick to hold the handle and carry it to the top of the hill. Finally I got my fence up and still, no one would come so I tossed the pail over and it slithered out, down the hill.
Now I am NEVER going down there.
But I have a plan on how to avoid snakes and it's to always have Jimmy with me when I garden!
Thanks for your sweet words!
XOXOXOXOXOXO

Howdy Stranger!
I'm so happy about finding the right person!
I'm going to make sure that I keep thinking positive because it's really working!
Do deer have babies every year? Last year there was a Doe, maybe it was her, and she had 2 fawn following her across front yards!
I was so worried about the traffic but luckily everyone slowed down to a crawl and just gawked.
Thanks for commenting! It's nice to see your Jan pop up in my comments!

Sharon,
I like the thought of "manifesting" what I need in my life!
I'm really going to keep reading all that I can about positive thinking.
I always worry so much about my boarders but with this girl it appears that I can exhale and get busy doing other things in my life that are important to me and not feel anxious about what's going on at the clinic!
