I'M the ONLY ONE not HAPPY

But I know that I did the right thing.
As Jennifer said -  "All the other dogs deserve peace and safety. Sometimes the needs of the many outweigh the needs of one."
So I used a "card" that I have never played. I have a good friend who happens to be the Executive Director of one of the Humane Societies and she knows Ralphie. She has actually taken care of him many times for me in the past.
So I asked her if she would take him and find him a home.
I had never taken a dog IN, only OUT.
In fact most of my rescues have come from her shelter.
She said that she would be glad to. She knows his needs and if she isn't able to place him in the proper home, she has a few rescue groups that she works with that she was sure would help.
So I took him to her today. I thought I could do it without tears.
I thought wrong.
He was happy to see her but I still could feel my heart break.
I have complete and utter faith in her and know she will only place him in the right home.
Still, it hurts.
I come home tonight and everyone seems extra playful.
They probably are since there is no one to pounce on them.
They remind me of the munchkins in the Wizard of Oz.
DING DONG!
For some reason I'm slightly irritated with them.
Couldn't they hide their glee a little bit?

I know this was so hard for you to do! My heart goes out to you. It sounds like you did the very best for Ralphie. I hope he finds a good new home.

Oh...such hard choices you've had to make of late. Yes, the happiness of the many must mean the sacrifice of one. I hope he finds a new great home soon. One where he can be as wild and crazy as he wants to be without making others miserable.

Hang in there. I am a little better tonight after being REALLY bad Tuesday and Wednesday....those are the days he was ill and died....so I guess those days are going to be harder for me for awhile.

She'll find him a great home, Cindi. It's not an easy thing for you to do, I know, but I think it's the best for all. I hope he gets adopted by someone who has no other pets, and can just spoil him and let him run the place. :) xox!

Cindi, I know it hurts, but you did the right thing. You trust your friend will find a great home for him and she will, so take heart in knowing he's happy.

xxoo,
Georgina

It is a tough decision but it is the right one. Neither he nor Your other dogs (and You) were especially happy with how the situation was.

But You know he will come to a good home and even if that doesn´t help much now You will feel better soon.

Take care my friend!
Christer.

Ditto to the above. What's great is that the perfect home will be found for him that won't bring up anxieties that will make him create havoc. One thing I've learned in this rescue thing is that. It's hard to not let emotions be involved especially since he has been a part of your home, but all will be happier, you will be less stressed, which makes the dogs in your home even HAPPIER and less stressed. It's a win win, although it hurts the heart.

Thinking of you.

and yes, this made me teary because I know how hard it is to make that decision.
