SO.........

... I wrote out a long post and as I reread it I realized how depressing it was.
Who wants to read that?
Jeez.
OK, so instead..basically this is it.
I've just had a couple jolts of reality. (Someone unexpectedly passing and another who is gravely ill.)
You never know what's next. (You can do all the right things and still bad things can happen.)
It's stupid to stress about silly things. (What color to paint a wall? I need stop thinking about it and just paint it!)
It's idiotic to put things off for later. (Waiting until there's a perfect time to create art or write, just do it!)
It's silly to hang onto stuff (like 16 mailboxes that I have in my basement... what was the plan for them again?)
It's asinine to worry about the money I've spent and hope to recoup it. (Forget yard sales and take the junk to Goodwill)
It's foolish to compare myself to others (What makes ME happy?! not what is "in style" or popular.)
So I'm getting rid of stuff. (All the "projects" that I said I would someday do?)
I'm only acquiring things that I love. (Not things just because they are a bargain.)
All the extra stress I've created for myself. (Streamlining my landscaping so that I don't spend every nice day outside just doing that.)
I've stopped Following some blogs. (The ones that made me feel bad about myself and made me think I need more "stuff" than I already have).
I'm cherishing others blogs. (That have brought me wonderful friends and kindred spirits.)
I'm Following Pinterest! (Because it inspires me, and gets my creative juices going and sometimes makes me laugh and other times makes me go "Ahhhh".)
So...just making my life more simple and making time for what I really enjoy.

I hope you are not deleting my blog from your list. I'm a mess at the moment. I'll write because I really don't want all to know how out of whack my life is at the moment.

Thanks Mary-Helen!
You are so right. Yes, I'm stopping (stopping the stress that I've created for myself) so that I can breathe.

Cindi, we are on the same wave-length on this! I've told myself to take a week and just think about what I want to do. What's important to me. And how to make that happen. Everything else gets the old heave-ho! lol!
I need to take better care of me and not run around like a crazy woman 24-7. xox!

Sounds like these jolts were really good for you. I just gave a ton of stuff to the rummage sale that since I haven't done anything with yet I knew I never would...so why keep? It was such a relief to get rid of it all! I know you will feel happier when you do.

Sometimes I enjoy a good depressing post. Perhaps that says something about me.

I'm with you on a lot of those things. I discovered that one of my neighbors, several houses removed, and around the corner has a "FREE" table. Anyone can give to or take from the "free" table. So every few days I go over and leave something. A few yards of fabric, a few books, a brand-new DVD player, a lamp. I keep thinking I'll run across a blog that says "look what I found on the neighborhood FREE table. Can you imagine someone just gave this away?"

I really enjoy leaving things there.

Great!
16 mailboxes? :-) :-) :-) That's just wonderful :-)

Life is just too short to stress away so I think You're making a good choice!

Have a great day!
Christer.

Hmmm, yes what DOES that say about you? :D :D :D
That would be a good idea for a blog! I live on a main street and whenever I put something on the curb, it's usually gone in no time at all. I have actually seen someone take a bag of cement that was rock hard from being out in the rain! I've also helped a woman load my entire picket fence into her truck. I should set up a camera and blog about it!!!!
Or maybe not.

Yeah, SIXTEEN!
MY mailbox has Blue painted on the front so I thought I would paint cats and/or dogs on mailboxes!
I would be at an estate sale or the ReStore and see different ones and HAVE to get them. Then I found some cool retro ones and....
OH GOD! It's going to be hard to get rid of those! :D :D :D

It's funny how themes run through similar crowds. I'm wondering where to go, what to do (creatively) next. I feel it's time for a change, but my old friends: wood, canvas and paint keep calling me back. I have a hard time letting go but in a different way from yours.

(Looks like you're slimming down in all sorts of ways!)
