I was so looking forward to this extra hour.
Daylight Savings Time, Wahoo!
How could I have forgotten that last year it took the dogs a few WEEKS to get into the time change groove.
At 4:30 AM this morning I could hear Blue pacing.
His nails clicking on the wood floor.
I felt, rather than saw him come to the side of the bed and stare at my face.
I couldn't open my eyes, if I did that, game over.
If he knew I was awake he'd gallop for the door and wake them all up.
So kept my eyes closed and tried to will both myself and him back to sleep
but then he hit the door a couple of times with his paw.
Maybe he's got an upset tummy, I thought.
Last night he vomited up his dinner but he seemed fine later..but maybe he was sick again.
Great Dane vomit. or worse yet, Great Dane poop would not be something I'd want to be cleaning up.
Especially at 4:30 in the morning.
So I sat up and everyone started barking in excitement.
Downstairs they ran and I knew I wouldn't be able to go back to bed.
Once I'm up, I'm up and besides it was actually 5:30 if not for the time change.
After everyone had pottied, they ran around the living room knocking down pillows and being rowdy.
I made some coffee and sat down to the computer.
A little bit later I look over and there they were....

Lazy bones!

I made some breakfast and answered early morning texts from other people who know I'd be up
and I cruised around on some new blogs.
The sun is coming in now and Charlie wants out on the porch that is crammed full of all the garden things that I dragged in from the yard.
That's my project for today.
To clear out the porch and to rearrange my furniture again.
I have so many plants that I've brought in from the cold and I need a place to put them until Spring.
When this chore is done I'm usually happy because my tiny space looks like a greenhouse
but placement is crucial so that the cats don't feast on them
or the dogs try to dig in the dirt.
Yep, that's how I'm spending this day.
And I have some wicked satisfaction of sweet revenge because Charlie keeps hitting the doorknob
in his effort to get out to the porch.

The sound of it is like someone trying to get inside
and it wakes the dogs!

That's a great photo of your dogs. Not all of them, is it? They have you well trained, as do mine although it is my cat who insists I get up in the morning rather sooner than I really want to. I have pet doors so they can all get out when they need to, but Charlie wants to be fed, the sooner the better.

I could have written this post because we have the same thing at our house--Except without a Great Dane! :-) But the dogs don't know what time it is either, and neither do I for that matter!

I hope you're finding a place for your plants, and enjoying your day!

It's exasperating that they all get you up and they all go back to sleep. Mine are good at that too...except I can always go back to sleep unless I have to be somewhere. Today was my last Sunday off for at least 8 weeks. I only get one Sunday off every 8 weeks. So I tried to enjoy it fully. Love seeing all the pup piled together. This should be a greeting card or poster.

Yes! it really drives me crazy.
I don't know why really but I'm never able to go back to bed. Sometimes even if I'm sick, I will sit in the big chair in the living room rather than go back to bed. I need to work on that!
And to think, that pile doesn't even include them all! LOL!

Cynthia Myers said...

No! LOL! that's definitely not all of them. :)
I wish I lived in an area where a doggie door would be safe but I would worry about it here.
I don't let the cats in my bedroom was just getting too crowded!
Thanks for commenting!

I bet you do have the same going on at your place! LOL!
I wouldn't mind if I wasn't always sleep-deprived. Oh well!
and my plants, I'm still moving them around. Charlie has already puked up a couple of leaves!
Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Tammy!
I'm so sad to read that you are having health problems again!
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care of yourself my friend.

I thought of you when I read this cartoon: :)

That cartoon is so CUTE!
Thanks for sharing.
Blue always goes and walks to the laundry room at 5pm and waits for his dinner. Sunday he just didn't understand why I made him wait!

The joy of having dogs :-)

If anything grows from the ground/ floor Orvar tends to pee on it :-) so I can't even have a Christmas tree :-)

Have a great day!

Cynthia Myers said...

I never have a tree up either. It's the one thing that BOTH the cats and dogs want to destroy!
I might put one out on the front porch though! If I get it done in time. I'm always way behind and then just don't do it.

What wonderful images to return to... your furry crew!
They're adorable!
Whether it's daylight savings or not, we're always on "furry time" :D

Hope Blue's tummy is feeling better.

Cynthia Myers said...

Thank you, I do love my furry crew.
Blue is much better. Not sure what was up with him but I'm just happy he's feeling good.
I apparently now have the flu.
I'm no good at being sick.
I hate laying about doing nothing and having no energy.
But I'm so glad to see a comment from you!

love that pic.

and charlie's doorknob trick -- funny. for some reason, reminds me that a dear departed cat used to knock my stepfather's coins off a dresser when he was mad about something or other.

Cats are so entertaining...
and sometimes maddening! LOL!
