ONE DOWN and a FEW to go....

Well, I finished ONE commissioned painting during my time off.

I did it in my illustrated collage style.
I used acrylics, papers and Inktense pencils.
My friend wanted it to be of her longhair Dachshund who is constantly digging holes.
I wrapped the cut paper around the sides so that there is no need for a frame.

Then I sealed it in a matte finish.
I hope she likes it! She will be getting it Thursday.

I've got a few other works in progress and I made a huge dent in my gardening chores so that gave me some satisfaction.

In other news, I'm back at work.
On the Plus side,  I'm doing all the flower containers for the clinic.
(Wahoo! Anything to be outside!)
On the Minus side is that 3 of the rescued abused dogs are now here at the clinic
and it hurts my heart to look at them.
But on the Plus, they are getting better and the fourth dog is already at a rescue!
So... Enough about that.
Sigh.

BED STEALER

Aaaaaaaaah!
A day off.
and here I am, wasting it on the the laptop
and taking photos with my phone.
Chatting on Facebook
and Instagram.
I need to get off and be productive.
House needs to be tidied,
Laundry caught up and
Art to be created.
I'll leave you with a Sunday photo.

Hattie, my piebald Dachshund stealing Blue's "bed"
whenever he gets up.
I think she likes the warmth he leaves behind.

BUTTON CAT, DOXIE and THERAPIST

I did three more paintings.
Each one is done with Inktense pencils on paper
then collaged onto an acrylic painted small canvas
measuring 4" by 4" by 1 1/2" deep.
They can be hung or placed to sit upright on a surface.
The cat has a floral scrap paper blouse with real little buttons.
I'm liking using different paper and maybe random items, like the buttons.

Then I did another Dachshund because I know a lot of Dachshund owners! LOL!

and lastly, I wanted to use the Therapist quote because it's true for me.

But next up I need to work on some small commissioned paintings.
I had been asked to do a painting of a friends five dogs, all on one tiny canvas
in a more realistic style.
I wasn't given a deadline and I really was dragging my feet.
I sketched out some things but never was happy.
Recently I met up with this friend and she asked about them and I told her that I just couldn't seem to get them all in the proper scale but....
that I'd do it, eventually.
She laughed and said why didn't I just do them individually and in whatever style and whatever color I like.
Suddenly I was full of ideas!
I'm pretty sure I know how I will be creating them.
The only problem now is....time.
Sigh.

I still have not been contacted by the Art/Antique place
and truly, I don't even care now.
It got me painting again and that's what I needed!
I'm still working on setting up a shop but I've opened a business Facebook page!

Yep, slowly but surely.

I FOUGHT THE LAWN AND THE LAWN WON.

Summer is of course a very busy time at my job.
My Boarding Area is packed but that's good.
Busy + Waiting List = Job Security.

But it does leave me exhausted and no energy to get stuff at home done.
I've shared photos before of my yard and right afterward I got a lot of it mowed down
but I didn't tackle the area of the hill.
Too Hot + Too Tired = No doing it.
And then it's rained several times.
A couple of days ago I walked down to the top of the hill again.
I just stood there looking at it.
I'm not even upset.
OK yeah, I WAS, but no, not any longer.
Nope, I'm NOT going to let it drive me crazy.
But..these weeds are TALL..
I mean like 4 feet.
This one is even taller than that.

So...I'm done.
My niece Lily is coming over tomorrow and we are going to clear just the top part.
Then we are putting up a fence.
Yeah, that's my usual M.O.
If I can't deal with something, then block it out and try to forget it.
I do have BIG plans for the top area now though.

PLAN C -
I'm fencing it in and lining it with flowers and making it into a big outside room.
Painted picnic table, birdbaths, fairy garden, fire-pit area...yep, things like that.
PLAN D -
Or buying a big discounted pool and surrounding it with pea gravel.
PLAN F -
Or maybe a horse trough/stock tank for a MODERN effect.

Maybe not.
But...I DONE with that damn hill.
