I NEED A SHOWER!

OK! Not the kind of shower you are probably thinking.
I mean a "SHOWER" like women throw for other women when that woman is getting married or having a baby. I worked at bank for over 11 years which included all of my TWENTIES, so I went to A LOT of showers. Almost all the girls that worked there got married and then had kids during those years. I was also in more weddings I can even count! I'm sitting here struggling, trying to remember everyone!
I was a Bridesmaid for Nancy, Tricia, Mary Ellen, Theresa, and Monica, a Maid of Honor for Kelly, Debbie, Robin, , Deb and Marlyss and I had to bring Amber's dogs to her wedding and take care of them as photos were taken. So I'm talking about a TON of showers, (not to mention all the hideous bridesmaid dresses!)
and then after that came the babies....
from:
I guess I'm thinking about all of this because this weekend I am going to a Double Baby Shower! For two girls at work. One is due in February and the other in March.
I'm not begrudging anyone anything, I'm very happy for them.
I know it's going to be hard for me to convey my thoughts without sounding small and petty but here it goes!
I WANT A SHOWER! LOL!
Not a bridal shower or a baby shower but a
"HEY! I NEVER GOT MARRIED OR HAD KIDS BUT I COULD USE SOME NEW TOWELS SHOWER.
I mean it's kinda unfair. Seeings how I never met my Soulmate or popped out a Wee One so....I was thinking -Why do the lucky ones get all the gifts. Why doesn't anyone say "Hey, you are alone and struggling to make ends met all by yourself, so here's a new set (or vintage would be nice) of dishes. Or some pots and pans". (And maybe a cookbook... that would be helpful!) and while I have my nieces, I never had a little one to buy cute little hats and teeny tiny shoes for.
from:
Hmmmm, and some people wonder why women buy dog clothes....
from:

So, I'm just saying... it would be nice
and I would invite everyone whose SHOWERS I've gone to!
What a GREAT MARKETING angle! Can you just see it!
You go to Target and ask for the registry..."No, not the Bridal, not the Baby. The Spinster one please."

tooooo funny. I love it. I like the hoochies in the blue tulle, my kind of wedding!

hey, I'm going to a friend's "Farewell to your uterus" party at the end of the month. She'll probably get gifts, but maybe not the kind you're looking for. and I suppose gifts really aren't worth a hysterectomy....maybe.

I'm right there with you sister. I once exclaimed upon learning of another shower I was expected to get all excited about "Single People Don't Get Shit"! I said it before I realized what I'd said. I too have been in so many weddings...I can't even count them.

I just don't do showers any more if there is anyway I can get out of them. I was invited to one for this weekend and I decided...I barely know that girl...I'm not celebrating her soon to be born baby....sorry.

I'm happy for your happiness...but I'm not doing any more showers unless its family and I can't get out of it.

Girl, you're friggin' Einsteinian!!! I think you're on to something...love the idea!! "Why not!" I say!! I had my bridal showers, for the first one, and 1 baby shower for my oldest, now 34, none for my daughter, poor baby, 32 now, and 1 for my youngest, now 25. I've also given my fair share of bridal and baby showers too...thankfully, I was my sister's maid of honor at her first wedding and a bridesmaid at a friends soon after my first marriage...haven't done anything like that since!! But you, my dear, are owed....OWED BIG TIME!!

How about a blog shower??!!?!?!?? Just a thought.

xxoo,
Georgina

Hee hee heee! You are so funny. How about a "I Just Need Some Stuff" shower? I swear, if anyone I knew had one of those, I would be there in a heartbeat. :) Especially if there were no stupid games and good food! xox Pam

LOL! Thanks Georgina but I'll be OK now that I vented!

And Pam...there would be NO games (unless it's drinking games) and lots of yummy food!
Wish we all lived near each other and we could ALL have a "I just need some NEW stuff!" shower!
:)

My sweet friend.. if I was oh close to you I would make a great shower for you.
you made to remember of a film that I saw her some time of a girl that went to many marriages and hshe was always godmother and she had many dresses of all the colors in a great wardrobe.. very entertaining.
but you sees how they are the things.. I always wanted to be godmother and they never invited me.. I never used an enormous dress color and full of tulles.
in spite of already it was married never used a dress of brides.
Make a rain party of any things that you to need and invite their friends that it will be very entertaining.... and let me to know please..
