A Thank You, New NEWS, Hattie and Blue.

(I have no idea what happened to the garbage!)

First, A BIG THANK YOU for all the kind and caring comments on my last post.
You all lifted me up and made me feel not so alone.
And Thank you for all the encouragement and advice!
It means more to me than you will ever know that I have such wonderful friends out in blogland.

and...Well, I have some NEWS!
Actually I was going to wait to share because I didn't want to jinx it
but I can't keep it in.

OK, so I mentioned how I was going to let go of some stuff
and pursue other projects?
Well, I had my name in at a couple of places for a "Booth".
Both places have very long waiting lists. One was for over a year wait and I'd been on the list since September and my name hadn't hardly moved up the list at all.
I was going to paint furniture and collect stuff from Estate Sales and such
and sell it.
After talking with my friend about these things, she said she thought I'd be spending valuable time
pursuing and painting things just to make money and I would hate it.
So I decided to drop my name off of the lists.
One of the places is a big junk of a place but it gets a lot of traffic although it always has a strong mildewy smell.
My thought was to fix-up and repaint furniture and make some signs and try to stand out in the crowd of collectibles and garage sale stuff.
Yep. Needed to let that idea go.

The other place is new.
Well, a new business.
Not a new building, but I will share more about THAT later.
It's only been open for about a year but it has really taken off.
It sells Art and Antiques.
and jewelry and soaps and cards and has a Farmers Market on Sundays in the warmer months.
So i went in there last Saturday and was going to take my name off the list for a booth.
I walked around and looked at things.
I really like that place.
When I finally saw that no one was at the counter, I walked up to the owner and said that I had my name of the list
and she nodded
and then I said I'd like to change it and requested instead a wall space with possibly room for a small table or chest beneath.
That's when she said that she thought she'd be calling me soon and that a wall space should be opening in the next month.

Suddenly I felt excitement.
I could paint my paintings, illustrations, cards, art dolls.....
And once I got rolling I'd have things for an Etsy shop too.
Right afterwards Vicki sent me a great link about opening an Etsy shop.
Talk about a sign!
So, if I'm gone from here for a bit, don't worry.
I'm just busy working on Art stuff for this new business.
I want to be ready for when she calls me!

And I thought I'd share a few recent photos.
The one at the top is Hattie.
I had gone upstairs for a few minutes and came down to find the trash dumped in the kitchen.
I had thrown away an old roll.
I'm sure Jimmy knocked it over but obviously Hattie helped!
(I have since gotten a waste can that fits inside the cabinet under the sink.)

and then there's these photos of Blue.
I took him to work for a nail trim.
He sits up on a bale and gives kisses as the girls trim them up.
At home he hides under the kitchen table and won't let me touch his feet!

While at work I weighed him.

He's been as high as 174 lbs. which was way too fat.
I had gotten him down to 132 lbs but with less activity in the winter months,
his weight is back to 145.
He's not happy about that, but then who's happy when on a scale?

and here's another photo of him.
A close-up.
Titled "9 years 2 months and 13 days old and still a Puppy."

OK! I'm off to work on some Art now!
See you soon and thanks again for being there!

All of this is great news! I wish I had some creative news like this to share. The great news is...that you know you will have a space soon...and that you better get things done to fill it. That would be a great motivator for me! PErhaps I need to put my name on a list somewhere! Love the dog photos!

Cynthia Myers said...

Thanks Nita!
Yes! You need to search out something along these lines! You are so talented.
And this does motivate me. I for some reason need to feel pressure to get stuff done. I always work better if I have a deadline. This weekend will be my first one off in more than a month and I plan to do nothing but work on Art!
Thanks for commenting! Xoxo

Cindi!! I wish you could see my beaming smile right now and know how much I’m OVER THE MOON for you!!

You see? The Universe will help when we, “put ourselves out there”, bare our hearts desire in honesty and love and let it know that we are ready for whatever comes along.
I so wish I could give you a big hug, I so do :)

Now, take it steady. Little steps, so it doesn’t feel too much all at once, and you’ll be fine.
You can do it! The first step in your wonderful new journey has been taken.
Oh, we could talk for hours over a coffee or two or three about all of this! Followed by Kahlua and creams…

I’m pretty darn excited for you, lol :D

Hattie – those eyes!
Nope, no garbage here. Uh uh.
What? This? This is my new Frozen costume pattern. I’m just tryin’ it on for size, mum… honest.

And big, beautiful Blue. A more handsome, humble, honest, big hearted, eternal puppy you’ll ever find anywhere.
What a gentle giant he is.
He’s always believed in you, ya know ;)

So WISH I could give him a real life cuddle - and get one of those special kisses from him too :)
Well, I’ll have to be content with sending you an encouraging, cheer-leading cyber hug for you, and wrap around hugs for Blue and all of your darling crew.

Go get ‘em Cindi!

Enjoy the process of making. It is as important and fulfilling as the end game you work towards.
Just know with a warm feeling of contentment that good things are happening in 2015!
And... you made it happen :)

…and, I’ll be wanting to buy cards as soon as they’re hot off the press.

Oh Vicki!
Your comment makes me want to cry. Thanks so much!
I do wish that we could sit and talk and talk and talk over coffee/kahlua 😉
You are so right about the Universe and I do know that but I keep forgetting. Sigh.
Thanks for cheering me on and also for keeping me grounded. You are absolutely the best.
And Blue wishes he could spend some time with you too! I just know he'd "gallop" right to you.

Hello Cynthia,

I'm so pleased to hear your news, you really need to get your super creative work "out there" and it will make you feel so much better...there's nothing worse than being a creative person and not being able to achieve your potential or have an outlet for it.
I'm gearing up for the Etsy shop....not sure how it will turn out, but staying hopeful and confident.....that's what we need to keep...hope and confidence :)
Thank you for your comment on my blog....I'm really going to try to keep it up to date and have also opened a facebook page, just for the really going for it this year.

On another's taken my little 12 year old rescue cat nearly 4 months to really settle and believe it is her forever has been a long journey but so rewarding now when finally I see she has lost all the fear and is calm and enjoying her life again ( goodness knows what she went through beforehand). I think it would have been easier if she wasn't deaf as she couldn't hear a reassuring voice, but we seem to have succeeded with her at last :)

I'm excited for you that you are opening an Etsy shop! and I will find your Facebook page and Follow.
I'm on Facebook but it's just a personal one but I need to add a business page too. I'll post that when I get it done.
Wow, so much to do and so little time.
Congrats on getting the kitty to feel at home.
Although she is deaf, I would still talk to her. I do that with Blue.
I believe the "energy" is still conveyed to him. And of course touch is very important.
But mostly I find he watches me for his cues. I think cats are much smarter than people give them credit for, so I would use certain gestures if I were you, to your kitty so she knows what you want.
I just "point" and Blue knows.
Thanks for commenting!

What a great thing to have a wall space! Sounds like a promising idea and I'll hold my thumbs for good luck!

It's so fun to see a dachshund that isn't brown or black! I've only seen one that wasn't in my entire life before.

Blue, beautiful as ever!

Have a great day!

I agree with your friend about abandoning the idea of painting and selling furniture and smalls. The market is fairly saturated and I agree that the experience may be disappointing for you. Using your energy for your art is much better! What a great friend you have.

No matter what size dog, they always seem to behave better getting nails done anywhere besides home. Today was Winnie's day for nails, and we go see her favorite groomer at PetsMart. Winnie fights like crazy if I do her nails (all 4 pounds of her), but she sits like a little angel for Amber. Silly dogs.

Thank you Christer!
I'm excited.

I don't know if you remember or not but just before I got Hattie I was telling a co-worker that I wouldn't be getting anymore dogs.
Well, unless it was a dachshund,
and it had to be a girl,
and it had to be partly white,
like a pie-bald or a dapple
and one of those small ones.
She was laughing because she said I was coming up with so many stipulations that I'd never find one like that!
And then not even 10 minutes later a woman walked into the clinic with Hattie....
Wish I could make the rest of my life work like that...
and maybe I will! Starting with a wall space. :)

And Blue, yep. He's my beautiful boy and always will be!
Thanks for stopping by!

I am truly blessed with the best of friends, both here and in real life.
and YES! you are so right about the furniture. I think the design/decor blogs that I'm addicted to (not to mention Pinterest) got my going with that idea.
Yes, I'm excited about making Art and I never looked forward to painting furniture.
My little Ruby (who's in Heaven now) would scream and screech and almost pass out when getting her nails done.
So of course I had to take her to my groomer who wasn't as in love with her as I was and she could do her little nails without any problems.
You are so right, size really doesn't matter when it comes to nails!
Thanks for commenting!

Cynthia you are so right about hand gestures.....I've been doing that with her and she now recognises quite a few things.....and as I talk to plants LOL I have no problem in talking to her.
My dear old William who I had to say goodbye to last year was deaf too.x

Cynthia Myers said...

To be perfectly honest I often forget that Blue is deaf.
I just look at him and he seems to know.
His being deaf has taught me how silly it is to yell about things. If I get upset at the dogs, like they get in the garbage or something (LOL!) I will start to holler and then think how I can dumb I am to be yelling.
Yep, Blue has taught me a lot of things but I still talk to him not so much for the words but for the emotion.

I'm so sorry about your William.
You have my deepest sympathies.
It's never easy. XOXO

well DUH.
i finally just now signed up for your email notice of any new post.
now i won't miss them!
still grinning at your news.

Cynthia Myers said...

Hi Tammy!
Glad to read that you signed up for my email notice!
I'm pretty excited about getting into this place.
I've been working on paintings all day.
The woman hasn't called yet and while I'm anxious to hear from her, I also have a lot to do to get ready.
I want to have a ton of stuff done so that my "space" will look good.
I feel like this is a good starting point for me and it will force me to produce Art on a regular basis.
I definitely need to be doing that.
And I'm glad you like the photos...
but I love any photo of my boy.
OK, I need to get back to work.
I'll post some photos of the paintings eventually...

ok, clearly i have gotten really lousy at my blog-reading… so, a belated congratulations. i am so excited for you. and am very much looking forward to your etsy shop. (and hope you'll be doing custom portraits.)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Lately I've been the same way, there's just not enough time for me to get to all the blogs or if I do, I don't always comment.
I'm reading up on how to do Etsy.
I want to do it right and I want peoples first impression of it to be good! LOL!
I'll do custom portraits but I want to do them in an illustrated style.
I mean, my style rather than try to do someone's style, if you know what I mean.
I'll be sure to let you know when it's finally open!
