NO ONE GETS IN TO SEE THE WIZARD...

So I'm working in my backyard today and two men come walking up.
They were selling siding.
One of them said they liked my sign on the front door
which reads: "No One gets in to see the Wizard. No Way, No How."
I wanted to say "And yet, here you are" but instead I just kinda smile.
My dogs were going crazy in the enclosed patio area.
One of them asked if he could go over and pet Blue, "If he's friendly".
I say "He is, but the border collie will rip up you."
They both looked over towards her and she wasn't barking but just watching them intently.
The other guy said to him "Yeah, don't go over there!"
Sigh, I REALLY need to get my privacy fence put up and
I think I need another sign that reads
"Solicitors will be Shot"
but in the meantime, Thank God for Nora.

It's always the quiet ones that you have to watch out for. Good girl, Nora.

Nita,
Yeah, you would have to see her to believe it.
It's so weird. If I tell her that "it's ok" she will be all over someone giving them kisses and asking for scratches on the head but if I don't...watch out.
She'll look at me to see what I'm thinking.
She even does it to Lily!
One time she had been playing with Lily and we all walked out to my van and me and my dogs got in and Nora turned and growled and barked at her through the window! Lily just shouted "Really?" and I laughed and told Nora that "It's ok" and she went and laid down.Lily just shook her head over it.
And that sign? LOL! My sister saw it at a craft show and said she just had to get it for me!

Connie,
Yes. She sits at watches, waiting for a cue from me.
Blue will let out a big bear of a growl if he thinks some thing is up
and Jimmy? He barks and trembles.
Jimmy will defend me but he's scared to death doing so.

Jen,
Yes Nora is such a good girl!
I'm so lucky to have her. :D
You are welcome. I'm glad to see you blogging again!
Hmmm, I wonder why my email doesn't appear with my comment? I will have to check my settings!
Thanks!

It does sound like you need a privacy fence! I love that sign on your front door. It makes me think of the Gregory McGuire books, which I love.

I'm glad you have an attack dog on the premises. She's adorable.

Grace,
I am currently clearing and leveling my side and backyard so that I can enclose as much as possible for my dogs and to keep "people" out! LOL!
I have not read any of those books but I think I will now! Thanks!
and thank you so much for commenting!
(I think Nora is pretty adorable too! LOL!)

I haven't had anyone coming to my door to sell anything in years here. I guess living at the outskirts of the world has its perks :-)

Today my neighbors parents visited him and they know I have a pitbull but they just don't know what a pitbull looks like and of course they believes all prejudices about pitbulls.

They had their two small dogs running around in the garden and when Sune came to the fence to greet them I could hear the father say: Watch out, watch out! to his dogs. He thought it was little fat Sune who was the pitbull :-) :-) :-)

Have a great day!
Christer.

You definitely have some big perks living where you do!
I'm shaking my head over that person thinking Sune was a Pitbull.
Sadly I worry that the day might never come when people realize what great dogs they can be.
When I was young, people were terrified of Dobermans and Rottweilers.
Then it was Chows.
and now Pits.
It's "people" that they need to worry about.
(and snakes! LOL! Thanks for your help today! I'm still not over the trauma!)

I have seen a sign that says:
"We shoot every third salesman that comes here unsolicited... the second one just left !"
May be you could put that up for fun !

Cindi Myers said...

Raj,
Thanks for the great idea!
I do need a sign like that! LOL!
and thanks so much for commenting!

Thank you for visiting me. I really love your cartoon drawings. What a good collie Nora is, and I love your sense of humor in the answer to the un-invited "guests" in your yard.

Nora is such a great dog, it still boggles my mind that anyone would not want her...

Way to go Nora! And it's hard to believe people still fall for the door-to-door sales pitch. It ain't what it used to be.

Tammy,
Not sure why this was in your mailbox?!
Just blogger going wonky I guess.
But glad that it gave you a laugh!

Doreen,
I know!
I can't believe that they just walked into my backyard.
Must be desperate for a sell and that's not a good sign.
Thank goodness for Nora!
(Did you get an email to this past post in your email too.
Blogger does weird things sometimes! LOL!)
