NATIONAL DOG DAY.... Part TWO

This might be a first for me, to do TWO posts in ONE day!
But I posted this over on my Facebook account and thought I should share it here too.
Vera Wag... a little poodle who I adopted years and years ago and I never seem to talk about her here.

"National Dog Day....
Sometimes when you live in a family of several dogs and you are a perfect dog who never does anything wrong and you never get into anything and you are just quiet and very sweet... Well, you don't get talked about as much. Because of this fact, today Vera Wag is getting her photo put up for National Dog Day... AND she was adopted from the shelter folks! Proof positive that there are WONDERFUL dogs waiting for homes. It's not their fault that they had stupid original owners. I'm so lucky to have her in my family."

Vera Wag! You're gorgeous!!
She so reminds me of a wee grey poodle that I fell in love with years ago, and used to baby sit when her owner went away. I loved that little gal. She was SO clever and completely charming.

..."there are WONDERFUL dogs waiting for homes". So, so true!
I'm very pleased that more people consider shelter dogs for their companion/s. There is a keen willingness to adopt, more so than ever before, as there is so much about it in the media and general culture speak, especially as increasing reports about puppy mills (and their closures) get through to the public.

Sharon,
Thanks!
She is a sweetie. :D
And she's so fancy that she just needed a designer name.
LOL!

Tammy,
You should see her now!
She's lost her front teeth recently.
That happens as they get older.
But yes, Vera Wag just seemed to fit.
LOL!

Vicki,
Vera is very smart too.
But then again, I've never met a Poodle that wasn't extremely intelligent....
(except for my Louie) oh well,
But Yes, I must agree, she's gorgeous, although when she was found, she was a matted mess and no one even realized that she was a poodle.
Nope, she was just a grey fuzzy shaggy thing and then she was beautiful... after the groomer shaved it all off!
Another diamond in the rough.
I agree that a few more people are adopting but working at the vet clinic, I see a lot of purebreds coming in and designer dogs from pet stores with high price tags. The clinic itself was several clients who are breeders.
It's getting better but still has a long way to go here.
Thanks for commenting!
