I PAINTED A WINDOW

I forgot to tell you that I painted a window.
A McDonald's window.

What? Why?
You are probably wondering.
Well, a very good friend of mine who lives way out in the country and I mean WAY out, the same one I drove to Minnesota with to get a baby goat, asked me to do it.
She lives in the next county over and they don't have no-kill shelters. They just have their County Animal Shelter. So she belongs to a group that helps the shelter by raising money for the animals and help them find homes.
So the McDonald's out her way, was having a contest with various businesses and groups, painting each window. It would be free advertising for everyone.
Customers would be encouraged to vote for their favorite one.
Well, I being the hermit that I am, only said that I would do it if my friend sat with me and kept me company.
Turned out to be a wise decision as it took me over 45+ minutes to drive out there in the dark.
If I hadn't been meeting someone I knew. I'd never had gone.
When I got there I found out that it had to be painted on the inside of the window, to protect the paint from the elements.
That meant everything had to be done backwards! Lol!
As I got into it, I quickly realized it was going to take a fair amount of time to do.

I had brought a dry eraser marker with me and we were able to draw the letters on the window first with that, to assure proper placement.
Then my friend volunteered to do the lettering and then she also ended up doing the "snow".
It took us about 3 1/2 hours but finally we were done.
My friend had liked the painting I had done of the dachshund playing in leaves so I decided to do a cat and dog playing in snowflakes.
It was an experience and actually kinda fun and my friend was happy with it so that was good.
We had a nice talk while sipping on McD's Mocha coffee too!
I must say though, as I drove home through the countryside in the pitch-black, that I felt relieved to finally see the twinkle of city lights as I got closer to the town.
There might be many things I don't like about living where I do but that night I found that I felt comfort as I finally turned onto my street.
I think it would take some time to feel at ease if I ever moved so far out away from everything.
But all and all. It was a nice evening and I hope it helps the shelter in some small way.

It's quite good. You are very talented. My brother has a shop and he paid someone to do his windows. I had no idea it was so involved. Merry Christmas. xoxo Su

Bless you for doing it! I would have been nervous driving in unfamiliar territory in the dark.

Having worked in the sign writing industry for ten years, I can agree that painting and signing windows - from the inside - is NOT easy.
So having said that, I applaud you and your friend.
You've done a very fine job for first time window work!
Well done.
It looks great.

I really hope it helps the shelter immensely.

Glad you arrived home safely.
Hope you're feeling better.

Love to you and your fur crew.

You are a good person to go through so much time and effort to do a good deed. What goes around, comes around. You are a jewel.

Thank you Su!
The time consuming part was mostly having to paint it over and over in layers to build up the color.
I'm so glad my friend did the lettering! it would have taken me forever!
LOL!
Merry Christmas!

Jean,
I'm nervous driving anywhere in the dark but driving somewhere that I'm not familiar with, really freaked me out.
I had been out in that area a few times but in the dark, I didn't have a clue!
But having my phone on me, made me feel more secure. Sort of! LOL!
and thanks! glad you like the Art!
XOXO

Vicki,
Thanks!
To be honest, it helped that no one knew me and expected nothing great.
If I had done it as a "job" I would have fretted over it and been very worried but they don't know me so that helped.
LOL! Does that make sense?
But yes, if it had been a job, I would have had to sketch it out and thought about it over and over. Instead I just drew it and started painting.

I too, hope it helps the shelter!
I'm at work right NOW, feeling a bit better but not well.
Oh well! LOL!
XOXOXOXOXOXO

Oh Sharon,
Thank you!
I'm not a jewel, just wanted to help.
But thanks for the kind words!
XOXO
Merry Christmas!

You're a doll to do this Cindi, and it's adorable. As for 45 minute drive in the dark, that's just another typical day for moi ;).

Doreen,
LOL! Yes, I'm sure you are very used to driving that!
:D
My friend drives that constantly and doesn't blink an eye.
Actually, a lot of my co-workers drive it too because they almost all live out in the country, either in Illinois or Iowa. Just a handful of us, live in town.
But being the hermit I am, it freaked me out a bit!
and thanks, I do hope it helps in some way.
Merry Christmas!

Tammy,
Yes! Who knew that it would be backwards! LOL!
and I agree, I want to know more about Vicki's life as an artist too!
I don't see well at might at all anymore but if it's dark and rainy, I'm blind!
Thank god it wasn't raining!
I was so tense that a deer would leap out
or a semi-truck would come up over a hill and I'd be blinded and then I'd be afraid they'd fade over into my lane.
I don't know how people drive those distances in the dark all the time.

Thanks for the well wishes.
I'm trying to get better but Doc is coughing on everything and another girl has been out sick for several days.
Fingers crossed!
XOXOXO
Merry Christmas!
