WINTER PLANTERS

Once again, I seem to have no time.
Aarrrgggh!
I have so many topics to blog about!
So much to tell but.....
I barely have time to read my fav blogs, much less do a post of my own.
So here's a quick one from my phone!

I take care of all the flowers, etc. at work.
I go buy them, plant them, deadhead and prune them and water them.
This year I planted Mexican Heather in the center of the planters.
( it has purple blooms) and then I added a bunch on yellow zinnias around that and then trailing purple petunias around the outer edge.
It was rather lovely, if I say so myself.
(sadly- no photos)
Then as Fall arrived and the zinnias became a bit brown, I yanked them out and trimmed back the petunias.
Then I put yellow and purple mums where the zinnias had been.
(Again, sadly no photos)
Now we have had snow.
But thankfully, it's all melted.
Most of the plants couldn't survive that.
Doc wanted some color up front in the planters so I again pulled out what was dead. (Mexican Heather and petunias) and trimmed down the mums and a few struggling green petunias.

Then I went to Hobby Lobby and got two artificial trees that were half price (so they were only $10 each) and then went to Target and got 4 bags of pine cones - $5.00 each.
I split these between 2 planters.
For only $20 a planter, they ended up like this:

I'm happy with them.

The other two planters are tall but smaller on the top.
For those, I went to the Dollar Store and got a total of 8 poinsettias bunches.
(4 red and 4 white).
While at Hobby Lobby, I grabbed two "gift box" stakes. Half price again, so only $2.50.
So for a total of $6.50 each, this was the end result of that (because Doc wanted Color!)
I'm not a big fan of fake flowers.
But everyone else at work like them, so I guess they are ok.

OK! Gotta go now,
I hope to make it to everyone's blogs soon.
I've read several, just haven't had the time to comment, but I will!
XOXOXO

I love the planters but wish you had a lot more free time. It's so precious.

Time is certainly a fleeting commodity. Heck, I'm retired and never have enough of it, and with everything on your plate I'm surprised you have time to blog, much less visit and comment! My hat's off to you. :)

i think for fun you could send a bill to doc for landscaping services!
you could put a little disclosure at the bottom... like this...
'if you prefer you could delete the amount of this statement from my clinic debt' LOLOL!
just sayin'!
i have beautiful red pointsettias in the wren house. clustered all together they look very rich. you'd almost have to touch them to tell if they're not real.
i can't stand to have plants die... so i choose those.
i think the secret is using them the way they would grow in nature.
and then make a really bold statement with them!
LOVE the little pines with pine cones ... perfect! xoxoxo♥

Have a nice weekend with your dogs and cats.

Jean,
Thank you!
and hopefully soon I will have some more time.
I will blog about it in more detail later but I've closing up my booth and that should help a bit.
;)

Doreen,
I agree, just not enough hours in the day.
I try to read blogs on my phone but I can't seem to post comments without messing up and if I don't mess up, then I'm interrupted and can't finish.
Hopefully soon, I'll have it figured out.

Tammy,
LOL! no, not doing that!
But I gotta say, there have been times when I've had emergencies with one of my animals and he's met me here after hours and never charged me for anything except the cost of medicine, anesthesia, stuff like that. So I guess that stuff all sort of equals out.
In fact, my eldest niece came back into town with her 19 yr old cat who has been living with a cancerous tumor and he was going to come to the house free of charge and put her down for her. (but luckily the kitty passed in her sleep the night before) and THEN
today, my long time weekend night person was on her way out of town for an early Christmas to Missouri with family and a deer ran out and ruined her car. When Doc heard about it, he offered her his own car for her to drive.
He was even going to fill it with gas for her!
Yeah...
Just when he seems so maddening, then he goes and does stuff like that.

As far as the flowers, I'm sure you get the really nice ones that look very real. These are only a dollar so they look pretty fake! and not so great. LOL! I think I don't care for artificial ones because I'm reminded of a certain person's house that I used to know that was loaded with them! LOL!
Funny how I can't get that out of my head!

I'm glad you liked the pine cones, that's more my style especially for Christmas. I like the Scandinavian Xmas decor... more natural and simple and WHITE! LOL!
XOXOXOXO

But, you do have a flair for planting, so enjoy doing what you do. I think it brings a good energy, which is so important.
Hope you catch a breather and get to enjoy some time out soon.
Love to you and your wonderful fur crew.

Thanks Vicki!
I think the planting is just an extension of creativity, although I really just do a lot of trial and error where that is concerned.
In the Spring and Summer, here at home, I think I use it as a way to procrastinate!
I did have a little spare time on Saturday and I was able to have breakfast with my sister and my step-mom and that was really nice. Just to relax and talk.
I need to do more of that!
I hope YOU have found a little bit of time to rest!
I know how crazy busy you are right now.
Please take care of yourself.
I must say your bears are AMAZING! I'm so glad that you are on Instagram now!
XOXOXOXOXO

Tammy,
LOL!
He can be pretty moody.
There are times, especially in the past when he's been horrid.
But maybe he's mellowing or is just happier now
and therefore nicer.
I just hope it stays that way.
LOL!

Fake colors or not, I love the planters -- It's all about color this time of year, and you've totally nailed that!

I hope you aren't going in too many crazy directions, and have some down time to just sit and enjoy the holidays!

Thank you Kim!
I'm glad you liked them.

I'm trying to eliminate a few things, so that I can have some time to enjoy, like you said.
Thanks again and hope you are enjoying the holidays too!
